Puttingal Temple is a Hindu temple in the coastal town of Paravur, India. The temple was founded after the presence of the goddess was experienced on an ant hill; "Puttu" being the Malayalam word for ant Hill.〔http://puttingaltemple.org/temple.php About Temple History〕 The festival of this temple is on the "Bharani" star of Malayalam month Meenam. Fireworks (Matsara Kambam) and other events associated with the festival (Aswathi vilakku, Kathakali, Kampadikali, Marameduppu) take place along with other cultural events. Various poojas are performed and offerings are made daily for the fulfillment of desires and redressal of various grievances of devotees. "Thottampattu", the most important offering in this temple, starts on the 21st day of Vrischikam (a Malayalam month falling in between mid November and mid December) and lasts till the principal festival of the Goddess. == How to reach ==
This temple is located in the Paravur municipal area itself. Paravur is well connected with major cities like Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kozhikode, Bangalore, Thrissur, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy by rail. Paravur has a well managed network of roads that connect with major cities. The proposed Kollam-Kottapuram National Waterway-3 is passing through Paravur. 10 express and 4 passenger trains(one side) have halt in Paravur Railway Station.
